Use the interactive google map above and/or your navigational device to plot your route to the Cardrona Valley, Wanaka township or the Snow Farm. (Google recognises the position of the Snow Farm Lodge with the following details: Snow Farm Lodge, Paddys Ridge, Cardrona 9381).
From Queenstown International Airport you will make your way out onto State Highway 6.
You will head in the direction of Cromwell, passing picturesque Lake Hayes on your left and driving through the Arrow Junction. From the Arrow Junction you will drop down and cross the Arrow River and approximately 200 metres from the bridge on your left will be the turn off to the Crown Range Road.
The Crown Range Road is the road you will want to drive if road conditions allow as this road takes you down the Cardrona Valley where the Snow Farm is situated and further on to Wanaka township. It is a mountain pass road and even though it is sealed, it can be narrow in places, it is windy and requires some mountain driving experience in winter conditions. If you are driving a campervan, please check road conditions before heading up and over the Crown Range.
If the Crown Range Road is closed or not accessible by 2 wheel drive vehicles without chains, you can continue down State Highway 6 to Cromwell and on to Wanaka (just prior to Wanaka State Highway 6 turns right to continue on to the West Coast - continue driving straight ahead on State Highway 84 into Wanaka township). From Wanaka you drive approximately 20 minutes up the Cardrona Valley Road, passing the entrance to the Cardrona Ski Resort on your right and another 100 metres further on your left, is the entrance to the Snow Farm.
From here the road is unsealed and is a mountain access road which is kept in good condition over the winter season. Depending on conditions you may have to fit chains but it is not likely unless there has been a recent dump of snow.
